Mixed Media
In visual art, Mixed Media refers to an artwork in the making of which more than one medium is employed.
Thus it tends to refer to a work of visual art that combines various traditionally distinct visual art media. For example, a work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage could rightly be called Mixed Media.
The term multimedia art implies a broader scope than different Media. Thus, combining visual art with non-visual elements. Or, with aspects of the other techniques such as literature, drama, dance, or motion.
When creating a painted work using blended media care is taken to allow enough drying time between the layers. This drying time ensures the final work will have structural integrity. If a lot of different media is used, it is equally important to choose a sturdy foundation.
Many effects achieved by using mixed media. Found objects can be used in conjunction with traditional artist media to attain a wide range of self-expression.
