Giclee Prints

Giclee prints are created typically using professional 8-Color to 12-Color ink-jet printers. Among some of the manufacturers of these printers are vanguards such as Epson, MacDermid Colorspan, and Hewlett-Packard.

These modern technology printers are capable of producing incredibly detailed prints. Thus can be used for fine art and photographic markets.

Giclee prints;  sometimes referred to as Iris prints. These Iris prints are 4-Color ink-jet prints. And, from a printer pioneered in the late 1970s by Iris Graphics.

Giclee is a neologism coined in 1991 by printmaker Jack Duganne. And are fine art digital prints; made on inkjet printers. The name initially applied to beautiful art prints created on Iris printers. However in a process invented in the late 1980s has since come to mean any inkjet print. Often used by artists, galleries, and print shops. This fine art digital print suggests high-quality printing. But since it is an unregulated word it has no associated warranty of quality.
